Until our new Headteacher, Mrs. E Dobson, takes up the post of Headteacher from January 2022.
Welcome to Cumwhinton Primary School. We are a rural primary school (4-11) situated in the beautiful village of Cumwhinton, just outside Carlisle. The school is a central feature of the village and serves the wider communities of Cotehill, Wetheral Pasture and Carleton.
At Cumwhinton, every child is encouraged to discover and nurture his and her special gifts and talents through a stimulating curriculum that has global, sporting and the creative arts dimensions, going beyond the basic national curriculum requirements. We are dedicated to achieving success and happiness for all our pupils.
We have a dynamic team of vocational teachers and support staff who act as exemplary role models, educating and nurturing each child, enabling them to achieve high standards of academic attainment whilst also enabling them to become capable, caring and confident human beings.
Alongside our hard working, dedicated and highly trained staff is a whole community of parents and carers drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures, each contributing to our learning environment and the school's wonderful and creative ethos.
Cumwhinton Primary School has the advantage of being set in beautiful grounds with a wonderful playing field and community play area for children to enjoy during break times and their PE lessons. We take great pride in our learning environment and use it as a tool for inspiring learning as well as celebrating achievement.
Finally, we promote a family and team work ethic which is embedded in the ethos of our school. Education is a partnership between home and school and we place a great deal of emphasis on our partnership with parents. We believe that children learn best when home and school work together for their benefit. When your child starts school, it is not where your job ends and ours begins; it is where we begin our learning journey together.
