‘Without History there would be no future’
History is an exciting journey of discovery into the past where children are actively involved in their learning. A high-quality history education will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It should inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. We aim to equip pupils so they can ask understanding questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop their own personal views and judgement. At Cumwhinton School we use visits, artefacts, role play, workshops and experts as well as films, books and internet research to bring the past to life. History is vibrant and relevant, drawing together learning and skills from other all subject areas.
