At Cumwhinton School Physical Education is a vital part of our every day lives. It is about children learning about themselves, their capabilities, their potential and their limitations. It is the foundation of all sports participation. Children learn how to work with and to respect others. It develops their knowledge and understanding of why physical activity is good for their health and well-being.

The National Curriculum states :-

'A high-quality physical education inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character to help to embed values such as fairness and respect. '
