20.4.18
This week we have been looking at The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. We have been writing diary entries, non chronological reports, speech bubbles and created story maps. The children have also enjoyed creating a wall frieze and a small world scene based on the book. Take a look at what we have been up to in the photos below.
Summer Term 2018
We hope you all had a lovely Easter with your families. Our topic this half term is ‘Our Wonderful World’. Please see the topic web that has been added below to show the activities we will be doing. To start off our topic we will be basing our work around The Snail and The Whale by Julia Donaldson. The phonics screening check will take place the week beginning 11th June. We will continue to work on sounds during our RWInc sessions and we will have lots of opportunities to work on decoding real and nonsense (alien) words.
Your child will continue to receive the following homework to support our class work:
The children will continue to do PE on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the 1st half of the summer term. Please ensure your child has their correct PE kit in school and that all items are clearly labelled. We will be outside for one of our PE sessions so a pair of joggers/tracksuit bottoms and a jumper would be useful as the weather can be very unpredictable. All kits will remain in school for the half-term. If your child wears earrings please can you either remove them on P.E. days or provide tape to cover them.
Please use the home school log book as a communication between home and school. If possible please let us know the end of the day arrangements for your child - bus or going to After 3 Club or one of our after school clubs. Please let us know as soon as you can if someone different will be picking them up. We will continue to send home a weekly note in the log books which will explain what we have been working on during the week.
Many thanks,
Mrs Rickerby, Miss Tarbit and Miss Mossop
