Welcome to Year 4
We are very pleased and excited to be welcoming the children into Year 4 for the start of the new school year. As the children move into Year 4, we will continue the hard work they have already started in their learning journey. We look forward to seeing each and every one of them grow and flourish as the year progresses. The Year 4 class name is Great Gable.
We have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned over the next year and we will share our learning with you through our class page on the school website.
Our topics for the year are:
Autumn term – Anglo-Saxons and Vikings
Spring term – Mighty Mountains and Volcanoes
Summer term – The Mayans
Please have a look at our class web page where we will be sharing a PowerPoint giving you more information about our topics, classroom and routines. The PowerPoint is underneath this letter if you scroll down the page.
Please ensure that your child remembers their PE kit. We are not sure how the PE timetable will look but there will be plenty of opportunities for your child to be active in school. Please make sure all clothes are labelled with child's name (especially school sweatshirts & PE Kits).
Also If your child is opting to have a packed lunch please provide a balance between sweet and savoury; there should be no sweets in packed lunch boxes. Please remember we are a NUT FREE school. If you would like to provide your child with a snack for playtime, please ensure that this is either fruit or vegetables only.
The children will continue to receive homework weekly to support the learning they are doing in the classroom. This will include talk homework, spellings and maths. As well as this there is the expectation that your child is reading regularly at home. Please could you continue to record any reading your child does at home in their logbook.
We hope that you and your children have a fantastic year. If you have any queries or concerns at any time, please do not hesitate to contact us. Great Gable class email is
