Pupil Premium
At Cumwhinton School, we are deeply committed to providing an inclusive and equitable education for all of our students.
The Pupil Premium is a vital part of this commitment, as it allows us to direct additional funding and resources to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds. This ensures that every child, regardless of their economic circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We use the Pupil Premium funding to provide targeted interventions, additional support, and enriching experiences that can make a real difference in the lives of our pupils.
We are dedicated to narrowing the attainment gap and providing the highest quality education for every child, and the Pupil Premium is a key tool in helping us achieve that goal.
If you would like to know more about how the Pupil Premium works at Cumwhinton School, please explore the resources and information provided on this page or get in touch with the School Office.
Together, we can ensure that every child reaches their full potential.
What Is Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is additional funding that the government gives to schools for each pupil who is deemed to be ‘disadvantaged’. The money must be spent to support the education of pupils who are eligible, but it is for the school to decide how it is spent. More information about this can be found on the Department of Education’s website:
Who Receives The Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is allocated to pupils from the Reception Year right up to Year 11, who are registered for Free School Meals (FSM), or who have been registered for FSM at any point in the last six years (this is known as ‘Ever 6’). Pupil Premium is also allocated to adopted children and children who have been in care continuously for 6 months or more (known as Cared for Children).
